There's a trend for books about cults atm. Rebecca Musser's autobiography on how she escaped Warren Jeffs has been on the ny times best seller list since it came out and people like to read about people overcoming adversity. Fact is stranger than fiction.

on page 120, he lists some ways that a cult member will elicit their authentic identity.
1. creating illnesses, such as skin problems, asthma, or allergic reactions, that give the cult member an excuse to sleep or take time off from work.. my mom has had a mysterious rash, creeping and reappearing on her face and body, for months.

Absolutely! I know of many who have had all these strange stress related illnesses and psychosomatic symptoms, myself included. I still suffer even though I've left, but it's better on the whole.

WT simplifying dates? other thought on Dec 15 edition.

1) page 23 : simplified memorial date : 4 numbers only: 14 / 4/ 20 14 -or- 4 / 14 / 20 14 -or- 20 14 / 4 / 14. it is only numerology, and if you switched between julian& gregorian calenders, the order would disappear , yet if we could have an eclipse too, like we had in the 60s in eastern north america, icing on the cake.. 2) the front cover, two huge stones piled in the back yard of the house, precariously perched.
perhaps an attempt to please god through service 6000 bc.

Cause and effect...
by msconcerned inits been going on for years but tonight it really hit home.
i have to drink after my meeting, its the only thing that calms my nerves.
the things said tonight made me distort my face so much the brother saw me during the highlights and obviously wantedto say something to me from the stage.

I used to have to take valium after the tms/service meeting in the last 6 months there. Couldn't sleep otherwise. It's hard not to get wound or hyped up and sucks cuz it's a week nite n most normal people have to work next day. Its different to having a night class on a week night cuz you feel satisfied and sleepy after a class but the school, no way, you're on eggs because of all the forced association n stress of it.

Pioneer Service School Adjustment for 2014
by bnybyt inthe pioneer service school will now be only one week, monday thru saturday.. it will consist of 40 hours of instruction and illustrations/presentations.. the reasong given is that this will make it more accessible to the pioneers for due to work schedules and for congregations having to sponsor and support the school.. it will make it easier on everyone and those who haven't attended in the last five years may be able to attend this school with the new curriculum.. .
what do you feel would be included in the new curriculum.
probably more worship of the governing body and they don't need two whole weeks to get this across.. .

I've never been to a pioneer school so I always thought it would have been about how to talk to people better at the doors and use the bible more, and effective techniques for study and return visits. Damn, I'm thinking they'd do what a normal sort of vocational school would do.
